Apple Crumble

Baking time : 20 minutes with foil, 25 min

Ingredients

Topping

  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 2/3 cup raw oats
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 TSP salt
  • 1/2 TSP ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter (115 grams)

Filling (apples)

  • 6 apples
  • 3 TBS apple juice (or 1 TSB lime/orange juice)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 TBS flour
  • 3/4 TSP ground cinnamon
  • 1 TSP vanilla essence

Additional Toppings Once Cooked

  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream

Method

Preheat oven to 180 degrees

Toppings

  • In a bowl combine flour, oats, sugar, salt and cinnamon
  • Add melted butter and stir until combined
  • (Optional) pop in the fridge while doing the filling

Filling

  • Peel apples, cut into quarters, cut out the core and then cut into slices
  • In a baking dish add the apple slices, juice, sugar, flour, cinnamon and vanilla essence
  • Stir until completely combined
  • Spread to an even layer
  • Add toppings and occasionally clump and press flat

Baking

  • Cover in foil (shiney side in)
  • Bake for 20 Minutes
  • Remove foil and bake for another 25 to 30 minutes until topping is golden brown

Allow to cool a little, serve with optional toppings
